All Cake Smash Sessions take place in my studio located in Sterling, Virginia.


All of my cake smash setups are fully handcrafted and customized for each little one. I don’t use printed vinyl backgrounds or pre-made scenes. Every backdrop is built with real materials and real textures, allowing complete flexibility in color, theme, and details.

what to expect when you book a cake smash session

 

1.Secure your date

 

To officially reserve your session, the following must be completed:

  • Signed contract
  • Completed client questionnaire
  • $50 non-refundable retainer

Please note: your date is not secured until all three items are received.

 

 

2.Design & theme planning

 

Once booked, we’ll begin designing your baby’s custom setup.

You’re welcome to share:

  • Color palette preferences
  • Theme ideas
  • Inspiration photos
  • Any meaningful details you’d like incorporated

All of my sets are handcrafted from scratch, so this is where we bring your vision to life.

 

 

3.Digital mockup approval

 

One week before your session, you’ll receive a digital mockup of your cake smash setup.

At that time, you can:

  • Request small modifications
  • Adjust colors or details
  • Or give final approval

This ensures everything feels aligned before your session day.

 

 

4.session day

 

Cake smash sessions are baby-led and relaxed.

If baby needs a break to eat, calm down, cuddle, or have a diaper change — we pause. There is no rush.


If you’ve added family portraits, those are photographed first (before cake time!) to keep outfits clean.

 

FAQ

Can you travel to our home for a cake smash session?

Cake smash sessions are only offered in my studio in Sterling, Virginia. This is where I have all of my professional lighting, backdrops, and props set up to create the perfect environment for your baby’s photos.

When should I book my baby’s cake smash session?

I recommend scheduling your session 2–3 weeks before your baby’s first birthday. This gives you plenty of time to receive your final photos before the big day or party.

Where do the sessions take place?

All cake smash sessions take place in my studio located in Sterling, Virginia. This allows me to provide professional lighting, backdrops, and all the props needed to bring your setup to life.

Do you provide the cake?

Yes! I can provide a custom cake for an additional $70. I work with a local baker who specializes in low-sugar, organic, and baby-friendly cakes that are perfect for cake smashes. If you prefer, you are also welcome to bring your own cake.

Do you offer albums or prints?

Can I choose a theme or color scheme?

Yes! Each setup is customized. You can share inspiration photos, colors, or a specific theme, and I’ll design a unique backdrop and props for your baby’s session.

Can parents or siblings join the photos?

Yes! You have the option to upgrade your session for $90, which includes family portraits before the cake smash.

How long does a cake smash session last?

Sessions usually last around 45–60 minutes. This allows time for portraits before the cake, the cake smash itself, and a quick clean-up afterward.

What should my baby wear?

You’re welcome to bring outfits you love, or I can provide suggestions based on your chosen theme. Many parents bring one outfit for portraits and another for the cake smash.

What happens after the session?

Within 2–3 weeks, you’ll receive an online gallery with edited images. From there, you can download your favorites, order prints, or add on albums.

Can we receive the RAW (unedited) files?

No, I do not release RAW files. Every image you receive is carefully edited to reflect my style and professional standards. Unedited files are not a true representation of my work, and I want to ensure you only receive polished, high-quality photos.
